East Timor supports Papua as the integrated part of Indonesia.
Former East Timorese President Jose Ramos Horta supports Papua as part of the Republic of Indonesia and never agree to the movement so called Papua Freedom Movement (Organisasi Papua Merdeka).
The policy of Timor Leste government continues to support the integration of Papua to the Republic of Indonesia, and oppose any movement or separatist activity on the land of Papua. Mr. Ramos Horta who had been directly involved in East Timor’s struggle for independence (now called Timor Leste), said that Papua has been legitimately part of the Republic of Indonesia, and nothing to be questioned.
Mr. Horta praised the achievement of human resources in Papua which experienced a significant increase due to the development that continues to be encouraged by the government of Indonesia.
Mr. Horta was in Papua and invited by the Coordinating Minister for Politic and Security Affairs, Mr. Luhut Binsar Panjaitan. During his stay in Jayapura, Mr. Horta met with a number of officials, including the Police Chief of Papua, Military Commander for Papua Region, the Governor of Papua and a number of other important figures.
