JOKO WIDODO SET A PRIORITY IN INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT IN WEST PAPUA IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THE 6,81 % ECONOMIC GROWTH IN 2018.
President Joko Widodo instructed a massive development in West Papua to minimize the economic disparity gap between the Western and Eastern part of Indonesia. A series of infrastructure development has been planned and implemented during his administration. Thousands of kilometer of roads, port, airport, railways, industrial area, up to special economic zone has started since he took the office.
In accordance to the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), the development contribution from each province and island basis in order to achieve the 2018 Economic Growth from 5,4 % to 6,1 % are expected increased, particularly to the West Papua, the government has positive sentiment that the growth can achieve the 6,81 %, higher to the national economic growth set up.
The economic growth on the first quarter of the 2017 year economic development are seen dynamically increased 3,36 % which considered remaining low and need more incentive to boost the growth. This is to explain why the government has put priority on West Papua, judging the economic potency and factors in the island.
